ZOE SALDANA OWNED THE 'STAR TREK' PREMIERE IN GIVENCHY COUTURE

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture at the "Star Trek Beyond" world premiere in San Diego, Calif. on Wednesday.

It has been well-documented that Zoe Saldana has a certain penchant for outer space. In 2014, the actress told Badass Digest that she believes there are better parts for women in the solar system than there are here on Earth, and that mentality has led to leading roles in critically acclaimed films like "Avatar," "Guardians of the Galaxy" and J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek." But we on this planet thoroughly enjoy when Saldana returns to Earth — presumably shuttled in by SpaceX's latest contraption — to give us a taste of her otherworldly chicness.

For the world premiere of "Star Trek Beyond" in San Diego, Calif. on Wednesday, Saldana arrived in a shin-length periwinkle blue mermaid dress from Givenchy's fall 2015 Haute Couture collection. With teensy, bejeweled spaghetti straps and an embellished bodice, the piece actually resembles a leotard that her "Center Stage" character would've worn on-stage with the American Ballet Company. (TBT.) Her stylist Petra Flannery even thought to match her shoes and subtle eye makeup with the gown — a difficult feat based on that pastel coloring.

Behold:

The whole look is a far cry from the Dolce & Gabbana pajama set Saldana wore all over town on Monday, but that simply goes to show her impressive sartorial range. She should touch down on Earth more often.

KYLIE JENNER COVERS 'ALLURE', LILY-ROSE DEPP TEASES HER NEW CHANEL CAMPAIGN ON INSTAGRAM

These are the stories making headlines on Wednesday.

Kylie Jenner is 'Allure''s August cover girl
In the current issue of the beauty glossy, Kylie Jenner opens up about achieving her dream of starting her own cosmetics line (despite some recent heat), why she craves normalcy and her thoughts on the buzzy trending topic, "#WhoIsKylieJenner". (Her response? "I don't even know who Kylie Jenner is.") {Allure}

Lily-Rose Depp shares new Chanel No. 5 campaign image
Just over a year ago, Lily-Rose Depp was announced as the face for Chanel's new fragrance, N°5 L’Eau (a new take on the iconic No. 5). The full campaign won't be released until this fall, but Depp knows how to give the people what they want, and did just that by sharing a never-before-seen still from the campaign to her nearly two million Instagram followers. Previously, Depp fronted the brand's eye-wear campaign last spring, and has been described by the house as someone who "embodies her generation and its values of freedom and boldness to perfection, bringing to the iconic fragrance of the house her youthful freshness and beauty."

Diane Kruger shares her best beauty secrets
In a new interview, actress Diane Kruger (who has two new movies hitting theaters this summer) broke down her beauty routine to dish on her favorite hair products, skin-care regimen and the difference between on-screen makeup in American blockbusters and indie French films: "The French are always about being real, and less is more," she shared. "Sometimes I have to fight to cover up my pimples."

Ronda Rousey slays in new ad for Reebok
UFC champ/BAMF Ronda Rousey is the face of Reebok's #PerfectNever campaign. Walking slowly towards the camera, the short clip shows Rousey stepping off a photo shoot and removing her extensions and full strip of false eyelashes in one swift motion (which was enough to make us cringe, but clearly is NBD for Rousey). The last scene shows her doing what she does best: kicking some serious ass in the ring.

Is male makeup becoming a thing?
The wide spectrum of gender self-identification is becoming more and more acknowledged within the general public (finally!). With that, people are also more able to express themselves however they wish, which increasingly includes men experimenting in traditionally "feminine" ways, such as fashion and makeup. "The Internet is helping everyone to be more open-minded because you can't hide things there," says Jakob Kasimir via his alter-ego, Candy Ken, a rapper with a certain affinity for Hello Kitty and the color pink. "I'm sure there were always men that loved makeup but who were unable to express themselves. With Instagram and other social media platforms, we can finally enjoy and see people like that. It helps everyone and motivates the ones that already have the passion."

Christian Siriano speaks up about Leslie Jones's red carpet dress
Yes, that one. After a nasty Twitter battle between Jones and the #haters, fashion designer Christian Siriano finally spoke at length about the experience of dressing Jones for the red carpet and what it meant on a larger scale: "We dress every size there is — we dress girls who are size 0, and girls who are a size 20. It's always been super important for my brand to have such a mix, but we never really think about sizes that much," said Siriano. "We should just try to make every woman feel great about themselves, because there’s a enough crazy hate going on in the world."

MADEWELL RELEASES ITS FALL LOOKBOOK TO COINCIDE WITH THE COLLECTION'S LAUNCH

Fashion

A look from Madewell's fall 2016 collection.

We don't need to tell you that the effects of "see now, buy now" have already begun to make their way to many corners of the fashion industry. The latest adopter is Madewell, which has just released its fall 2016 lookbook to coincide with the launch of collection itself.

While the all-American retail brand typically has presented its fall lookbooks in March for more long-lead coverage, this year it's doing things a bit differently. For the first time, Madewell shoppers are now be able to pre-order pieces the moment they see them — available on Wednesday — rather than having to wait four months for the collection to hit stores.

And if there's a time for consumers to fantasize about swaddling themselves in oversized knits and heavy, wide-legged denim, it's now. At the outset of a bona fide heat wave, imagining wandering around the chilly city sidewalks cloaked in flannel and shearling provides a nice mental break from the sweat-drenched subway platforms. In this sense, "see now, buy now" could become very dangerous for our wallets — we might just drop some serious dough on delicious-looking pieces we bought purely out of resentment for the current weather.
